BIG IN CROWN ST - DEAN CARLYLE

If you were looking for a young man with a vast collection of porn & a sharp hand at tattooing, Dean can be found most days at Steel Lotus or the Gaslight Hotel. If you then told him you wanted to to go under his gun & get some new work done the first thing he will do is to try & convince you out of it saying: tattoos are for bad people, no one will sit next to you on the train, that spot hurts too much & mutter something about zombies or skulls. After a few beers, if your lucky he might find the idea amusing & accept your request.

HIT THIS FOR MORE OF HIS WORK

Dean has done most of my stupid tattoos & for that I love him. This latest was a first for both of us & took at least an hour of convincing before he agreed & it came out much better than I imagined. Big City Pirates - blood in the water.

DOUBLE S & TEEZY TONIGHT - WHAT'S GOOD SYDNEY? (UPDATED)

Right, it’s on tonight. In spite of the many obstacles placed in our way by bitter people with abnormal feature who seem to be allergic to fun, despite the false and malicious comments and outrageously shameful conduct heaped upon the rad & noble by the armies of ignorance, despite rather too much bullshit in general, the double S along side teezy, chasbot & vida-sunshine are hitting the stage tonight.

The funnel web clique & other such luminaries will be out & about with a bombora rum & lemon slurpee in hand, so do what feels right & come keep it adult contemporary before the astroid hits.

Great weekend - The Tongue & Spit Syndicate done killed it on Friday night. Large up to all who came down & filled the spot out t'was real bossy. Extra love to the double s for holding me down at the illypad after the show (no idea what's in that i dub kush). Kept it quite lo-fi the rest of the weekend with a strict diet of test match cricket, dope food & salt water - deep on my summer shit. I also stumbled across something very special to me that I thought was long lost (lucky man). Check the video from Friday above - all new SS joints.

PURE VISION

Today for breakfast I ordered a Lot Burger of course, there being no point to even getting out of bed if you don't get cheese, bacon, an egg and a thin ring of Golden Circle pineapple thrown into the deal. It came with beetroot too, unfortunately. They all do, and why anyone thinks this wack, tinned bullshit is necessary is beyond me. But the beetroot seems to be integral, and who am I to reinterpret the work of the greats by sifting it out, as I suspect happens to 98% of beetroot slices in these circumstances. Then i found out that Palmer Projects is having its last show of the year tomorrow so BE ABOUT IT, eat the beetroot & see you at the show tomoz.

GUERNICA - UPDATED

I am sure all you art students out there have studied Pablo Picasso's Guernica at some point & regardless of the fact that Interpretations of Guernica vary widely and contradict one another we can all agree on the monumental status this work has gained. It has become a reminder of the tragedies of war, an anti-war symbol, and an embodiment of peace.
This masterpiece is arguably one of the most recognizable pieces from the Spanish painter. The famous painting depicts the bombing of Guernica, a Basque town, during the Spanish Civil War in 1937.

Primary Flight - The worlds largest site-specific, street level, mural installation is on again & Ron English has been busy working on a mural of his own. Ron’s hand painted rendition of Guernica features many of his most identifiable characters & pays tribute to the original masterpiece
Since Ron has reminded me of the original masterpiece It is a perfect time to take a look at novel new exploration of Guernica in the video below, all in 3D.

WINGE & MUSIC - THE REALITY ON A PAINFUL MONDAY

Hello, friends, colleagues, miscellaneous associates, and bitter, regretful, former partners now comfort-eating their way towards the local coronary care department. I realize my blog game has not been at it's usual impressive level but in my defense it is peak silly season & silliness must take a front seat to any interweb pastimes. Right now I should be browsing David Jones for hand creams for my Aunty Marg & Nail polish for my sister. They were good enough to remember my pathetic presents last year & had the foresight to suggest things they actually need, I have no idea what my other family members will receive. Then there are friends who are thoughtful enough to get you something & insanely generous girlfriends who have spent something equal to the NASA budget - aarrgh im starting to feel the pressure. What about baby Jesus people? When did this xmas become a glorified shopping spree? Send me lists friends & family, it's a grave mistake leaving this burden to me & don't say I didn't warn you.
Anywho enough of this - lets watch the brand new Hilltop Hoods clip - The Light You Burned Featuring Trials from 2009 album titled 'State of the Art'.

Whoah that was weird. I was so busy trying to follow the story I hardly noticed the track. Whatever I have enough respect for them to post their new shit.

FAME - LAST DAYS MIXTAPE

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Fame from Overproof is someone i have oodles of respect for, the dude is mad talented & plays the background hard. It would not surprise me at all if you aint heard of him. Not only is he a weapon on the mic, he is also one dope producer & runs The Bank Studios where many a classic hip hop record has been recorded. This mixtape - LAST DAYS was finished 18 months ago but has been sitting on the shelf, not gathering dust but ageing like a fine Brunello. Its a rock solid pure hip hop release showing what many of us have know for a while now; that FAME is one of the best doing it in our fine city.
This leak has his blessing so keep it in your pants. I am sure he will give it another release somewhere down the track but FAME understands that making us wait any longer is just cruel. Are you ready people? Witness this fitness.

BEINGNARLY - MANY FACES

A few weeks ago those radikool dudes who run Ching-a-Lings on Oxford St asked UPROCK to come bless their walls with some of his custom built fitness, so being the gentleman we all know him to be he showed up with paints & brush in hand & started painting many, many faces. Those radkool dudes who run the bar, being the gentlemen they are left Uprock to help himself to drinks & Uprock being the gentleman he is asked a few of us to join him. This is the only remaining footage of what happened on the walls that night, it has since been painted over. I am not sure why but I have my suspicions.

Weekend man went to a few great parties, watched season one of 30 Rock (Alec Baldwin rulz) & I found this rad underwater cave/passage at Gordon's Bay. Its location is none of your business but I will post this photo to give anyone that cares some sort of hint. Summer is here people, do you have you own underwater cave?

BANG GANG 12s CD LAUNCH PARTY TONIGHT

Gone are the golden days of those epic BANG GANG Moulin Rouge party's that ruled in all ways possible & breathed rum smelling life into the Sydney club scene. KNEE DEEP IN DIAMONTEES (AGAIN) ((UPDATED))

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Look this will be good/fun & it involves no spinning of keys on your fingers, you being the only person not in a suit or 60 year olds with gold jewellery acting 25. It does however involve the shaving of your balls (female alternative), turbo extreme radness & the ability to wade through knee deep pools of diamontees. Dead Space Living Artists are launching a pop up art gallery throughout the diamontee HQ (ivy) featuring a collaboration of Australia’s pre-eminent artists. Diamontee HQ is transforming its pool, changerooms, restaurants and laneway into a gallery featuring work by:

The Movement – graffiti

Andy Uprock – cuprocking

Arnie Arnold – mixed media paintings

Paul Winkler – The grand daddy of experimental films

Mia Oatley – multi media light boxes

Louis Pratt – sculpture

Shopfront – Big Ted

All artwork will be for sale and no sales commission will be taken. This will truly be an opportunity to not only support the arts but invest in the art world.

On the night a gold coin donation will be collected on entry to support Shopfront. An organisation that helps support and nurture emerging artists aged 18 – 25.
